How risky is your migration, right now?

Eight questions covering the failures that actually cost sites their traffic. Answer honestly, unsure counts as half a gap, because in migrations, unsure usually means no.

  1. 01Do you have a complete list of every URL on your current site?

You cannot preserve addresses you have not written down.

  2. 02Do you have access to Google Search Console for the site?

It is both your priority list and your only post-launch instrument panel.

  3. 03Is there a written 301 redirect map, old URL to new URL?

The single artifact that decides whether rankings survive.

  4. 04Have you inventoried your forms, integrations and third-party apps?

App data is the most common "we did not know that would be lost" category.

  5. 05Is your email hosted separately from your website (or accounted for)?

DNS cutovers that forget MX records take the business offline in a worse way than the site.

  6. 06If you sell online: have you test-exported products, customers and orders?

Store exports routinely need reshaping; discovering that at launch is expensive.

  7. 07Is there a plan to check robots.txt and noindex within an hour of launch?

A leaked staging noindex is the one mistake that collapses traffic instead of denting it.

  8. 08Do you have a rollback plan if launch goes wrong?

"We can go back within the hour" is only true if nothing was cancelled prematurely.
