When you stop wanting a platform at all.

Most sites belong on WordPress or Shopify, and we say so when that is true. This page is for the ones that have outgrown platforms entirely.

Wix limits what you can build. WordPress trades plugins for maintenance. When your site is central to the business, owning the code outright stops being a luxury and starts being the cheapest option.

Ships plain HTML with zero JavaScript by default; interactive pieces load as isolated islands only where a page actually needs them. Content collections give blogs and service pages a typed, structured home.

We reach for it when: Your site is pages, a blog and a contact path. This is most small-business sites, and Astro is our default for them: nothing is faster to load, and there is less machinery to understand later.
We do not when: You want app-like behaviour throughout: dashboards, logins, live filtering on every page. Bolting heavy interactivity onto Astro fights the grain.

Next.js

Framework · interactive sites

React-based, maintained by Vercel. Pre-renders pages statically but handles dynamic behaviour natively: incremental rebuilds of single pages, built-in image optimisation, server code where a feature genuinely needs it.

We reach for it when: You know features are coming: booking flows, calculators, gated content, integrations. The site you are reading right now is Next.js, for exactly that reason.
We do not when: A pure brochure site. Next.js carries a React runtime that pure content pages simply do not need, and Astro will beat it on raw weight there.

An open-source editing interface on top of your own repository. Content is markdown files in git: every edit is version-controlled, and there is no external service to pay or depend on.

We reach for it when: A few editors, mostly-text content, and you like the idea that your content lives in the same repository as your site, owned outright.
We do not when: Many concurrent editors, complex structured content, or image-heavy workflows. Git-based editing is exactly as simple, and as basic, as it sounds.

Audit
We crawl your live site and inventory every page, URL, image, form and ranking keyword.
You get a written migration plan before we touch anything: the full page list, which URLs carry your traffic, and exactly what the new site will look like. No surprises after you have paid.

Rebuild
We rebuild your site on WordPress or Shopify on a private staging URL you can review.
Content, images, page structure, forms and metadata all come across. You review the staging site and request changes until it is right. Your live site keeps running the whole time.

Redirect & Verify
We map every old URL to its new home, launch, and verify the redirects resolve.
Every old URL gets a 301 to its match on the new site. After launch we re-crawl, confirm no broken links or redirect chains, resubmit your sitemap, and watch Search Console for two weeks.

01Is a custom build overkill for a small business site?

Sometimes, and we will tell you when it is. If your site is ten pages that change twice a year, WordPress or even staying on a builder can be the pragmatic answer, and the Starter tier exists for exactly that. A custom build earns its price when speed measurably matters to your traffic, when you have outgrown platform limits, or when you want to stop paying rent on your own website. We quote both options side by side if you are unsure.

02Can I still edit my own content?

Yes, if you want to. We wire in a headless CMS with an editing interface that is honestly friendlier than the Wix editor: you change text and images, press publish, and the site rebuilds itself. If you would rather send us changes, we skip the CMS and the site gets even simpler.

03What does hosting cost for a custom-built site?

Usually nothing. Static sites deploy to Vercel or Netlify, whose free tiers cover most small-business traffic comfortably. If your traffic outgrows the free tier, you will be at roughly $20/month, still less than most Wix business plans. You pay the host directly; we take no cut.

04What happens to my rankings during the replatform?

The same discipline as every migration we do: full URL inventory before anything moves, a 301 redirect for every old address, titles and metadata reproduced, sitemap resubmitted, and Search Console monitored for six weeks after launch. If anything, custom builds recover fastest, because the new site is dramatically faster than what it replaces.

05Who maintains the site after launch?

There is very little to maintain, which is the point: no plugins to update, no platform patches, no database. Your 30 days of post-launch support covers tweaks and fixes. After that, any developer can work on the code, or we can stay on hand under a small retainer if you prefer a standing arrangement.
